Nancy Rolland-Thomas

April 6, 1967 — May 24, 2010

Nancy Rolland was born on April 6, 1967 in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Amos Wilson Rolland and Carolyn (White) Rolland. She spent her earliest years of her childhood there. She then moved with her family to Lawrence, Kansas in 1972, so that her parents could continue their education. She attended school and later received her Associates of Arts at Haskell Junior College before moving to Durango, Colorado where she attended Fort Lewis College. There she received her Bachelor of Science in U.S. History Political Science. Upon coming home she was elected to the Presidents Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities where she was sent to lobby for the legal rights of those like herself. While she was on the Presidentéâ‚â„s Committee she was hired at Cottonwood, where she taught and trained the disabled to live and work in society. Nancy was a member of PCEDP and the Indian Methodist Church in Lawrence Kansas. While working at Cottonwood she was introduced to Webster Thomas who would later become her husband and her soul mate. They were married on October 31, 2005 in Parsons, Kansas. Her husband has helped her truly understand what really matters to the Lord. Itéâ‚â„s not the degrees you have nor the car you drive nor how much money you have, but what really matters when you are called to the Lord is how you have affected your fellow man. Do you give when asked, do you volunteer when asked or do you give and volunteer without being asked. Do you offer something simple as being a friend, thatéâ‚â„s what matters most? In the final time, live like you are a friend to everyone there are no strangers just friends we havenéâ‚â„t met. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Jack Ribbon Baptist Church in Spavinaw, Oklahoma with Reverend Marilyn Bread officiating. Interment will be in the Jack Ribbon Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma with Brandon Daniels, Brady Daniels, Jamie Hair, Allex Dennison, David Dennison Jr. and James Rolland serving as casketbearers.
