Norma J. Hammond, born on December 8, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. Norma was well known for her generosity and kind heart. She had a reputation for being selfless, always willing to help others in need. Her warm spirit touched the lives of many, and she be deeply missed by all who knew her.
 
Throughout her life, Norma enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to her garden and flowers. She had a special love for dogs and found joy in engaging in various crafting activities. Her creativity knew no bounds, as she excelled at any craft she set her mind to.
 
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Etrel and Anna; her husband, Vernon Hammond; brothers Leroy Sampson, Melvin Sampson, and Wayne Sampson; sister Janet Dobbs; sister-in-law Pat Sampson; brother-in-law Jim Peck; 2 grandbabies; nephew, Jimmy Sampson; 3 cousins; and other family members. 
 
She is survived by her daughters Melinda Scott and husband Kenneth of Big Cabin, OK and Theresa Thompson and husband Randy of Jefferson, GA; stepdaughters Candy Jansen and Delina Hammond of Michigan; son Phillip Hammond of Flower Branch, GA; stepsons Vernon Hammond Jr. and Scott Hammond of Michigan; brothers Bruce Sampson of Michigan and Ronald Sampson and wife Billie also of Michigan; sisters Janice Peck of Florida, Sue Sampson of Michigan, and Christine Sampson of GA; sister-in-law Debra Sampson of GA; and brother-in-law Frank Dobbs of Michigan. She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Jordan Vo and Travis Vo, Stephen Jordon and Jordon Jordon. She is also survived by her best friends Junior and Maxcine Scott.
