Odes Newby

Odes Brewster Newby, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in his hometown of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Born on June 1, 1932, in Spavinaw to Jesse and Bertha Newby, Odes lived a life full of love and service. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Odes proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating his patriotism and dedication to his country.

Outside of work, Odes found joy in various hobbies and interests including gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was a devout member of the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship where he found joy and peace.

One of Odes' greatest treasures was his marriage to Earline on December 26, 1953. Their union was filled with love and companionship until Earline's passing on February 27, 2012.

Odes is predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Bertha Newby; his wife, Earline Newby; brother, Ides Newby; and one great grandson, Bailey. Не is survived by his sons Terry Newby and wife Renee, Randy Newby, Stewart Newby and wife Debra, Scott Newby and wife Connie all of Spavinaw; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Odes will be held at 2:00

p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship with Pastor Loy Sperry officiating. Burial will follow at the Spavinaw Strang Cemetery with Stephen Newby, Brian Besser, Stewart Newby, Eric Newby, Jason Broyles, and Taylon Ables serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers include Gary Turner and Eddie Vice. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home.
