Opal Skinner

Opal Mae Skinner (Roach) 84, of Chouteau, passed away on October 23, 2019 in Inola, Oklahoma. She was born on May 11, 1935 in Chouteau; the daughter of Edgar and Edna Roach (Petty). She married the love of her life, Si Wesley Skinner on May 24, 1952 and was happily married for 66 years. She worked for Montgomery Wards for many years. She also worked at Whitaker Children’s Home and was a licensed CNA. Opal enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was an excellent baker. Everyone loved her donuts and cinnamon rolls. She had the gift of gab and loved to talk to everyone. She and Wesley were members of the Assembly of God since 1960. Opal was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2019 in the Grace Life Church with Reverend Derek Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher Cemetery in Wagoner County with Ricky Skinner, Fred Skinner, Dwight Pankratz, Eddie Roach, Dennis Kendrick, and Wade Hendricks serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Jerry Yoder and Troy Yoder. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Opal is survived by her sons, Ricky M. Skinner and wife Cynthia of Chouteau, Oklahoma and Fredrick W. Skinner and wife Janet of Wagoner, Oklahoma; daughter, Frieda Pankratz and husband Dwight of Inola, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Skinner, parents, Edgar and Edna Roach; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
