Patricia (Pat) Ruth Martin, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at a care-center near
her home in Spring Texas. Complications from long term medical conditions led to a sudden
health decline and she passed away while under Hospice care in the presence of her brother
Clifford. She enjoyed music, puzzles, astronomy, reading, adventuring, horseback riding,
volunteering support to Christian Radio Station KSBJ 89.3 FM, and financial supporting the
spiritual and hunger needs of her community. She enjoyed staying connected to her extended
family, participating in family gatherings, and traveling vacations with her parents.
Pat was retired from her career as a manager at the Houston Center, with the Federal Aviation
Authority (FAA). She had entered the FAA as an air traffic controller and later switched to
technical maintenance of the complex software and systems of the air traffic networks. She
received multiple recognitions and awards for her work.
She was born on August 25, 1951, in San Benito Texas, the only daughter of Viola and Robert
Martin, the youngest of three children. The Martin family moved to Pryor OK in about 1953
when John Deere opened a chemical plant. She attended Jefferson grade school, Pryor Jr High,
and graduated in 1969 from Pryor High School. She played the piano at home and flute in the
Pryor school bands. As a member of the First Baptist Church, she sang in the choirs at their
performances, at contests, and the several bus tours that were done at the time.
Her interest in music continued at Oklahoma State University where, while pursuing her
degree, she played the flute with the Marching and Pep bands as well as other music
performances at functions of OSU. While working on her degree she was employed on campus
as a laboratory manager. Her high academic performance led to an Active-for-Life membership
in the merit-based Honor Society “Phi Kappa Phi”. Weekly she met with her two brothers
(Clifford and Jack) and other Pryor First Baptist friends for Sunday service and lunch. All while
maintaining her Academic Scholarship standing. She did acquire her BS degree in Microbiology
and completed post graduate work at OSU and the University of New Mexico.
Pat is preceded in death by our parents Bob and Viola Martin and Clifford’s wife Linda. She is
survived by her brothers Clifford Weldon Martin and Jack Warren Martin (wife Linda J.),
nephews David Warren Martin and Jonathan (Jon) William Martin (wife Muyuan Li) and
grandnephew Victor Li Martin. Pat is with the Lord today but she will be missed by her family,
her Spring TX neighbors, those she was able to help financially, and others with her prayers of
support. We know the Lord knows his own and the reward for deeds and prayers performed in
his name are in the hands of the One who loves us more than anyone else. Thank you, Lord, for
the time you have given us with those we love.
