After his time at the Brady, Rex moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to work for a professional sound company. He later relocated to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, a region steeped in musical history, and continued to work in sound engineering, including projects in Nashville.
His skill and professionalism led him to tour as a sound engineer with several major country music artists, including Roy Clark, Ricky Van Shelton, and Jo-El Sonnier. He also worked at the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre in Branson, Missouri, supporting high-profile performances across the country and abroad.
Rex married Francis Baker, with whom he shared many years before later divorcing. Together, they had one son, Jaron K. Sigmon, born in 1987, who now resides in Chicago, Illinois.
In his later years, Rex returned to Langley, Oklahoma, where he played bass with various local bands and remained an important part of the regional music community before retiring completely.
