Robert H Vernon, of Pryor, OK, passed away on July 23, 2023, at the age of 95. Born on November 3, 1927, in Atchison, KS, he lived a life filled with compassion and self-lessness. Bob’s sparkling personality, genuine kindness, quick wit and humor touched the lives of all who knew him. He was always there lending a helping hand, and his caring nature made him beloved by all.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy during his younger years near the end of WW II. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 50 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he found camaraderie among fellow veterans through their shared experiences and dedication to their country.
After serving, he joined the Coca-Cola Co, where he worked for 34 years Bob then worked at Leavenworth-Jefferson REC in McLouth, KS. During his working life, he built many strong relationships with colleagues and customers alike. His work ethic was unmatched and commitment to excellence was evident in everything he did.
Bob was a devoted member of the Greenbrier Freewill Baptist Church of Adair and actively served in several aspects including the ball field in Strang OK, sponsoring many activities for kids and adults alike.
He was a loving husband, dedicated father, superb grandfather and great grandfather.
Robert is survived by this loving wife of 72 years Marilyn; son Mike and wife Juanita; Duane’s wife Shavaun, and daughter Marsha and husband Daniel Gross; 5 grandchildren: Cori, Erik, Drew, Sean, Jacie; and 7 great
He was preceded in death by his father Hartzell Vernon and mothers Edith, Gladys and his beloved son Robert (Duane).
Bob leaves behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know him. In these moments of sorrow, let us remember his generosity, warmth and love for others. He brought light into the lives of everyone he met and left an indelible mark on our hearts. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
