Roy Lee Hughes

Roy Lee Hughes, 66, passed away on September 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 12, 1960, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Joe and Jeannie (Levi) Hughes.

Roy grew up in the Salina area and attended Salina High School, graduating with the Class of 1978. He went on to dedicate many years of his life to a career in law enforcement.

Roy was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and had many talents and interests. He especially enjoyed working on cars, whether he was painting, doing body work, or simply spending time on a project. He also had a talent for working with metal and enjoyed using his creativity to make various pieces of jewelry. Roy enjoyed shooting and collecting guns as well.

Above all, Roy's family was an important part of his life. He leaves behind his children, grandchildren, brothers, and other family and friends who will remember the many moments and memories they shared with him.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jeannie Hughes; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae Levi; and brother, Donnie Hughes.

He is survived by his children, Roy Hughes Jr. and Joey Hughes, both of Salina, Oklahoma, Kelsey Hughes, Stephanie Hughes, and Taylor Hughes; brothers, Mike Hughes of Salina, Oklahoma, and TJ Hughes of Missouri; numerous grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Roy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2026, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Floyd Kingfisher officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor.
