Ruth Maggard

Ruth Victoria Maggard, 93, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Salina. She was born on October 31, 1928 in Teresita, Oklahoma; the daughter of Ray Forrest and Julia (Hayre) Forrest. Ruth married Harmon Maggard and worked in the home most of her life tending to the needs of her family. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and owned and operated Downtown Country Craft Mall in Pryor for many years. She also loved to garden, especially roses. Ruth loved to visit and spend time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished each moment she had to spend with them. She leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 in the First Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Rusty Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Cemetery. Come and go visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Ruth is survived by her children, Don Maggard and wife Marie of Peggs, Oklahoma, Judy Ward and husband Jim of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Brenda Cornelius and husband David of Bartow, Florida, Randy Maggard and wife Susie of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Justin Chaffin and wife Jennifer of Pryor, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Joan McBroom, Joey Ward, Jennifer Flores, Christine Harmon, Darryl Maggard, Donnal Maggard, Christopher Cornelius, Jessica Hocutt, and Jami Daniels; and several great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Julia Forrest; husband, Harmon Maggard; brothers, Jeff Forrest, James Forrest, and Donald Forrest; and sisters, Cleo Highnote – Wilson, and Pauline Tomlinson.
