Scott Duane Mayes

Scott Duane Mayes, a long-time hairstylist in the Tulsa area, passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 63. He was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, on December 22, 1959. Scott attended Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California, where he acquired skills that would serve him well during his lifetime.

Scott had a kind heart and a sense of humor that always brought smiles to those around him. He was known to be somewhat ornery at times but was loved for it just the same. Scott had a passion for cooking and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Above all, the joy of his life was being dad to his beloved poodles. 

Scott is survived by his father Lawrence Mayes of Vinita, Oklahoma; sister Gayla Anderson and her husband Danny of Pryor, Oklahoma; niece Rachael Anderson and Kimberly Mabbott of Bentonville, Arkansas; nephew Chad Anderson of Fort Collins, Colorado; great-nephew Brooks Mabbott; and great-niece Hayden Anderson. He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Mayes and his partner Paul Freymuth.

A memorial service will be held to honor Scott's life on June 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Pavilion located at 447696 E. 355 Road, Vinita Oklahoma-74301. Family members and friends have been invited to attend the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ARF animal rescue of Tulsa. Arftulsa.org.

Scott will forever remain in our hearts as we remember the joy, he brought to our lives during his time with us.
