Scott Rice, born on August 29, 1957, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 8, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication both in his professional life and his personal passions.
On December 1, 1995, Scott married the love of his life, Ronda, and together they spent many wonderful and cherished years. Scott spent over 25 years working at the Municipal Utility Board, where he retired as a Natural Gas Department Supervisor. His commitment to his career was paralleled by his love for nature, particularly through his passion for taxidermy, which he pursued for many years. Scott was not only an industrious worker but also an enthusiastic outdoorsman who cherished moments spent hunting and fishing. Family gatherings filled his heart with joy, and he relished the time spent with loved ones. Some of his best times were spent gathered around his family, watching his favorite team, the OU Sooners.
A proud alumnus of Pryor High School, Class of 1975, Scott remained connected to his community throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ronda Rice of the home and their children: Jason Stricklin of Oregon, Robin Stanley of Inola, Oklahoma, Justin James and wife Ashley of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Stacy James of Claremore, Oklahoma. He will be missed by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Pokey and Betty Adams, of Pryor, Oklahoma. He leaves behind his siblings; brother Don Rice of Phoenix, Arizona, Gary Rice and wife Barbara of Olathe, Kansas and Kenneth Rice and wife Pamela Elliott of Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as his brothers-in-law Randy Minnix and wife Barbara of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Gregg Minnix of Pryor, Oklahoma. Scott was a proud grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Cade Fite, Taylor Potts, Dax Dry, Hayzin Potts, Jett Hardin, Avery James, Cater James, and Bronson Stricklin.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Louise Rice.
A visitation will be held at Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service in Pryor, Oklahoma, on October 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the First Free Will Baptist Church on October 14, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Jason Stricklin, Justin James, Cade Fite, Dax Dry, Jett Hardin, Bailey Larkin, Jeff Longcrier, and Randy Minnix serving as casket bearers.
Scott Rice's life was filled with passion, dedication, and most importantly, love for his family. His spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
