Sherilyn Joyce (Fleming) Ingram was born on January 27, 1950, in Pryor, OK to Homer Fleming & Janie (Vaughn) Fleming. She peacefully entered her heavenly home on October 12, 2025, at the age of 75.
Sherilyn grew up in Locust Grove, Ok and on occasion her parents traveled with her father’s job. She went to school all 12 years at Locust Grove Schools graduating High School with the class of 1967. Furthering her education, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from Northeastern State University in May of 1971 at the age of 21 and headed straight into her career teaching hundreds of students at Salina Public Schools from 1971 to 2007, retiring 36 years of teaching. Shortly after starting college Sherilyn married Ronnie Ingram on January 19, 1968, they built a life in Locust Grove together for 57 years being born to this union – Melissa & Grant.
She was a proud MeMaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cortney & husband Bo Mabry of Elkins, AR, Colin Adams of Locust Grove, OK and Rylee Ingram of Chouteau, OK and her great granddaughters Tanley & Chancey Mabry also of Elkins, AR. Sherilyn enjoyed vacationing with her mother to California to see family, she loved family dinners and always made sure birthdays and holidays were celebrated with family. She loved shopping & going out to eat with her old high school friends and co-workers. Many that knew her will not forget her spitfire personality and comical moments they spent with her. She loved critiquing movies with her sister & friends, love to read as her mother always called her a book worm.
Sherilyn was raised from a young child in church and a longtime member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Locust Grove and was devoted to teaching Sunday school. She was always devoted to helping students that she taught for an outstanding number of years and was a reflection to those students and their education. Sherilyn also donated her time to the ministerial alliance food bank.
Sherilyn is survived by her husband Ronnie Q. Ingram, daughter Melissa (Ingram) Adams of Locust Grove, OK. Son Grant Q. Ingram of Chouteau, OK. Her father Homer L. Fleming, her brother Marty K. Flemimg and sister Janis (Fleming) & husband Paul Flaherty all of Locust Grove, OK. Her three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members & dear friends.
Sherilyn is preceded in death by her mother Janie B. (Vaughn) Fleming, her maternal grandparents Susie Redbird-Vaughn & Thomas Vaughn, her paternal grandparents Perry E. Fleming & Dovie Ola (Stout) Fleming. Her In-laws, Arch & Sue Ingram, sister-in-law Gloria Kay (Ingram) Brooks and her cousin Nancy Griggs-Harper.
Sherilyn was dedicated to her church, 36-year career and to many friends and family. She will be greatly missed by many that crossed through her path sharing life with her.
Funeral services for Sherilyn will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Blair officiating. Interment will follow in the Hogan Cemetery with Grant Ingram, Colin Adams, Marty Fleming, Bo Mabry, Richie Richardson, and Paul Flaherty serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers include Homer Fleming, Bob Fleming, Ray Ingram, Ivan Ingram, David Parker, Junior Sperling, and Ryan Richardson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor.
