Verna Jean Vann, known by family and friends as "Pootsie", a devoted homemaker known for her warmth and dedication to family and friends, passed away on April 16, 2026, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born on February 26, 1971, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Verna led a life characterized by her commitment to creating a loving home and cherishing close connections with those around her.

Throughout her years, Verna’s passion for family was evident in the many ways she enriched the lives of her loved ones. She found joy in playing games, reading her Bible, and engaging in creative pursuits such as diamond art painting. Her happiest moments were often spent with her granddaughter Alyssa, and she took great pleasure in organizing family gatherings and cooking for those she cared about deeply. She enjoyed laughing and joking and always making others laugh. 

Verna is survived by her beloved husband, French Vann, of the home; her daughters Sara Vann of Siloam Springs, AR, Molly Vann of Siloam Springs, AR, Samantha Vann of Westville, OK, and Courtney Vann of Siloam Springs, AR; her granddaughter Alyssa Taylor; as well as her siblings Fallen Buzzard, Jr. and his wife Belinda, of Catoosa, OK, Kenneth Buzzard, of Tahlequah, OK, and Caroline Linn along with her husband Jerry of Watts, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fallen Buzzard, Sr. and Wanda (Wesho) Buzzard; and siblings Ricky Buzzard, Christopher Buzzard, and John Buzzard.

Services to honor Verna’s life will begin with a visitation scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on April 22, 2026, at Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service, located at 1204 N. E. 1st St., Pryor, Oklahoma 74362. A funeral service will follow the next day, April 23, at 11:00 AM in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel.
