Vivian Irene Finnell, age 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Pryor, Oklahoma, on July 9, 2026. She was born on December 8, 1928, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Ora and Lizzie (Jenkins) Woolman.
Vivian was united in marriage to Vernon Finnell on December 26, 1949, in Big Cabin, Oklahoma. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
A devoted member of the Pryor Church of Christ, Vivian's faith was an important part of her life. She cherished her church family and found great joy in worship and fellowship.
Vivian had a love for collecting red birds and could often be found enjoying her favorite word search puzzle books. She especially treasured time spent with her family. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their athletic events, where she was always their biggest supporter. She was also an enthusiastic fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and their beloved mascot, Rumble.
Family gatherings were among Vivian's happiest moments. She loved spending time with her sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She was deeply grateful for the many special friends who surrounded her with kindness, love, and support throughout her life, and she was thankful for all they did for her.
Vivian will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her loving heart, her gentle spirit, and the joy she found in family and friendships. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Leonard Robert Finnell of Sand Springs, OK, Carol Ann Nash and husband Larry of Pryor, OK, Melinda Jo Allen and husband Randy of Jay, OK, and Glenda Stump of Pryor, OK; sisters, Mary Thompson of Ramona, OK, and Shirley Helton of Liberty, MO; grandchildren, John and Shelly Finnell of Bradenton, FL, Zachary and Cleo Nash of OKC, OK, Miranda and John Henry Ward of Grove, OK, Robby and Rachael Finnell of Shamrock, OK, Cassie and Ben Hampton of Grove, OK, Mikkel and Ashley Stump of Pryor, OK, and Zekke and Kayla Stump of Edmond, OK; great grandchildren, Vivian Nash, Gweneth and Locklyn Ward, Brennon and Aubrey Finnell, Evy and John Allen Hampton, Jaxtyn and Hinley Stump, and Mason & Cody Stump.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Lizzie Woolman; husband, Vernon Finnell; her mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Emma Finnell; brothers, Ray, Thurman, Oliver, Speedy, and Virgil; sisters, Bea, Gladys, and Kathryn; son-in-law, George Stump; and daughter-in-law, Bunny Finnell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Pryor Church of Christ with Brother DJ Castoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with John Finnell, Zachary Nash, Mikkel Stump, Zekke Stump, Robby Finnell, John Henry Ward, and Ben Hampton serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers include Clinton Gray, Keith Woolman, and Wayne Richardson. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor.
