Wanda Jean Sager

Wanda Jean Sager, 77, of Adair, passed away on June 3, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on July 20, 1945, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Clarence and Mildred Surine. Wanda married Luther Sager on August 31, 1974, in Adair, Oklahoma.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Wanda attended Central State University where she received a BSU in Music. Her love for music stayed with her throughout her life; she played the piano for services at the Adair Christian Church for most of her adult life and was often called upon to play for numerous other events.  In addition to playing the piano and singing, Wanda had a passion for reading, needlework, gardening and she especially loved her pets.

She had many careers throughout her life.  She taught music, worked in quality control at the Mid-America Yarn Mill, then she and her husband Luther started two small businesses in their hometown.  First, Luther's Convenience Store and later Luther's Drive-In which they ran together for many years.  In more recent years she worked at Casey's in Adair where she made new friends and loved to keep in touch with everything happening around town.  Her family was the most important aspect of her life; she took great joy in spending time with her children and granddaughter. Wanda will be deeply missed by all her family and friends as they say goodbye to a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who touched so many people's lives with kindness and compassion.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Clanin and husband Marc Joyce of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Surine and wife Karen of Chouteau, Oklahoma; granddaughter Emma Sager; nephew CE Surine; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Surine; husband, Luther Sager; son, Norman Sager; sister, Wilma Surine; and niece, Jennifer Surine.
