Wauneta Maria Henson, 36, of Salina, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on July 4, 1984 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma; the daughter of Bennie and Carolyn (Feeling) Henson. She was a member of Standing Rock Baptist Church. Wauneta grew up in the Salina area and graduated from the Salina High School, Class of 2002. She went on to work as a medical records technician at Claremore Indian Hospital and was currently working at the Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs. Wauneta loved going shopping, playing bingo, and checking out the local yard sales whenever she got the chance. She enjoyed cooking and loved making fajitas and tacos with her daughter Zariah. She also enjoyed watching her son Zayden play ball. Above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend who leaves this world much too soon. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Services for Wauneta will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Rock Indian Cemetery with Vince Feeling, DJ Laconsello, Chris Watkins, and Danny Henson serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Wauneta is survived by her parents, Bennie and Carolyn Henson of Salina; children, Zayden and Zariah Dreadfulwater of Salina; brother, Paul Henson of Salina; sisters, Ashley Henson of Salina, and Lisa Henson and partner Mark Kuykendall of Salina; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her uncles, James Feeling, Andrew Feeling Jr., and Robert Feeling; and her grandparents, Arch and Emma Henson and Andrew and Nellie Feeling.
