Zola Violet Jones, 91, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 in Salina, Oklahoma. Zola was born on December 13, 1918 in Olive, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence Holeman and Lottie Mae (Alexander) Holeman. Zola attended school at Bristow, Oklahoma. She married Clarence Jones in June of 1934 at Spavinaw, Oklahoma. She and Clarence lived in Pryor, raising their three children until they retired to the country in 1970. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pryor and enjoyed working in the children's nursery. Zola loved cooking for Falls Creek and Wednesday night family dinners at the church. She was a member of the Keenagers at First Baptist Church and the Rebekkah's Pryor Lodge. She also enjoyed being a part of the Cole Home Demonstration Club. Zola enjoyed many things in her life including, canning, sewing, traveling and raising cattle. Zola was a lovely lady of faith who dearly loved her Lord, her family and her church. Funeral Services for Zola will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mike Cox officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Zola is survived by her son, Jim Jones of Pryor, OK; her daughters, Mary Strawhun and husband, Dwight of Pryor, OK and Barbara Pogue and husband, Jim of Sand Springs, OK; special friend, Bessie Scheffel of Pryor, OK; her grandchildren, Mark Pogue and wife, Jami of Carver, MN, Scott Horton and wife, Ann of Pryor, OK, Stephanie Webster and husband, Jerry of Pryor, OK and Matthew Pogue and wife, Renee of Colorado Springs, CO; nine great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jones in 1999; 2 sisters, Zelma Wells and Nancy Erwin.
