Charles "Charlie" Monroe

March 22, 1933 — October 5, 2020

Charles “Charlie” Hilton Monroe, 87, of Locust Grove, passed from this life on Monday, October 5, 2020 at his home. He was born on March 22, 1933 in Tar Heel, North Carolina; the son of Charles and Ida Rose (Dowless) Monroe. Charlie grew up in North Carolina. He met the love of his life, Shari, in Kansas City and they married in 1963. They have one son, Kenny. Charlie and Shari had spent 57 wonderful years together before his passing. Charlie faithfully served our country in the United States Air Force and served as a cook for the pilots. In 1985, Charlie and Shari moved to Oklahoma because they thought the area was so beautiful. He loved the outdoors; especially bird watching and fishing. He had a special place in his heart for stray dogs and picked up more than he should have, but Charlie always found them a loving home. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and had a love for antique cars; especially his 1939 Chevy, Mona. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed dearly by his brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his extended family the McClure family. He was a loving husband, father, and friend who leaves behind many wonderful memories for his family to cherish.

There will be no services for Charlie at this time. To leave his family a message, please visit his Tribute Wall at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.
