James "Matt" St. John

James “Matt” Matthew St. John, 60, of Broken Arrow, passed from this life on Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home. He was born on October 10,1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the son of Jim and Donna (Brown) St. John. Matt grew up in Pryor and graduated from Pryor High School with the class of 1979. He then went on to attend college at Oklahoma University and ultimately received his bachelor’s degree in business management from LeTourneau University. Matt married his high school sweetheart, Denise Sexton, after she caught his eye at the Dairy Queen. They had spent nearly 40 years together. Matt and Denise moved to Dallas shortly after getting married and lived there for 9 years before returning to the Tulsa area to raise their girls. Matt’s grandbabies, Henry and Sage, were the light of his life. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooners and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and always looked forward to a good day on the golf course. Matt loved to get together with his family and friends, especially at his family’s reunion every year at Lake Texoma. Matt was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and the best big brother to Mark. He will be so dearly missed and always remembered by his warm smile.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Matt is survived by his wife, Denise, of the home; daughters, Regan Cowell and husband Will of Tulsa and Sarah Baker and husband Scott of Denver, Colorado; brother, Mark St. John and partner Renee Bright of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Henry and Sage Cowell; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Donna; and his in-laws, Ed and Sharon Sexton.
