Mildred Thornton

Mildred LaVern Thornton, 86, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born on January 15, 1935 in Wagoner, Oklahoma; the daughter of Mulbey and Lois (Harp) Booth. Mildred married C.J. Thornton at 23 years old in Washington, on March 6, 1956. She worked in the home all of her life, tending to the house, her husband, and daughter, Stacy. Mildred loved traveling with C.J. throughout their married life, as he worked in construction and traveling for fun after he retired. She was an avid reader and had various hobbies over the years, such as knitting, painting, and doll making. Mildred mostly loved spending time with family and going out to eat with her granddaughter, Cassity, her husband, Jake, who she adored, and her only great grandson, Crew. Mildred was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation services will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ross – Mayes Cemetery in Salina. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Brookdale Claremore and Transitions Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to S.W.A.T. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Stacy Pritchett of Afton, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Cassity Bixby and husband Jake of Claremore, Oklahoma; great grandson, Crew Bixby of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister in laws, Faye Packard of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Lorene Thornton of Tucson, Arizona, and Erenestine Booth of Pryor, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews, and many more relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, C.J. Thornton; parents, Mulbey and Lois Booth; and brother, James Booth.
