Peggy Ann Roberts, 84, of Chouteau, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at her home. She was born April 9, 1935 to Hettie Ethel (Flint) and Joe Emmitt Ray in Chouteau, Oklahoma. She graduated from Chouteau High School in 1953. She started working for Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa in October of 1954 until February of 1960. In May of 1964, she went to work for North American Aviation, retiring from Rockwell May 31st, 1995 in the business office. On February 6, 1996, she was asked to take a temporary part time switchboard operators’ position. In August of 1996, it turned into a permanent part – time job where she retired June 26, 2001. On February 14, 1985, she found out she had breast cancer. Into the 3rd month of chemo (June 22) she was riding a kid’s bike, turned over trying to catch herself with her left foot and broke it. She had a lot of support from Dooney, family, friends, especially her church family at Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was married to Marion E. (Dooney) Roberts, Jr. on September 1, 1956 with Pastor Roberts, his father, officiating. To this union, there were two children born, Valerie and Mickey. After 37 years of marriage, Dooney passed away December 13, 1992 at the age of 61. They did a lot of traveling while their children were young. After being alone for 8 years, she married Floyd Junior Henry of Inola at the home of Donna and Charles Newton in Chouteau, February 2, 2001. They were married a little over eight years when Mr. Henry passed away May 31st, 2009. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. She had a great love for her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She volunteered at Mayes County Medical Center from September 1995, where she was part time, she volunteered with the American Red Cross. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Chapter, Locust Grove. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Locust Grove, although she didn’t get to attend the meetings for several years. She also enjoyed watching Thunder Basketball, OU Football, and any team when it came to watching baseball. She looked forward to watching the world series each year. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will follow in the Chouteau North Cemetery with Justin Roberts, Barrett Rotramel, Kevin Girty, James Dunn, Frankie Roberts, and Jack James serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer will be Ricky Fowler. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Peggy is survived by her son, Mickey Roberts and wife Terri of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; daughter, Valerie Roberts of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brother, Jackie Ray and wife Sue of Pensacola, Oklahoma; sister, Lanora Gabbard and husband Ray of Benton, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Barrett, Justin, Kelsey and Frank; 7 great grandchildren, Ricky, Jericho, Liam, Tate, Jamison, Jaxon, and Avacyn; fur baby, Apollo Blue; brother and sister in law, R.D. and Sherry Roberts of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters in law, Sharon Ray and Shirley Ray; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mary and Kevin Girty; She also had a great love of her first cat after retirement, Crissy, who was 13 years old when she had to have her put to sleep. In July of 2009, she inherited Lilith, who she was very fond of; and many other relatives and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Hettie, Father and Mother in law, Reverend Marion & Opal Roberts, , her first husband, Dooney, her second husband, Floyd, and three brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, and Jerry Ray; niece, Jamie Gabbard and nephew, Bobby Mark Ray.
