Richard Satterwhite

September 4, 1943 — March 8, 2020

Richard Eugene Satterwhite, 76, of Langley, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 4, 1943 in his childhood home in Langley; the son of Frank Raymond and Vernis Helen (Ruggles) Satterwhite. Richard married Vicki Rae Smith on May 22, 1966 at Utopia Baptist Church in Pensacola, Oklahoma. He worked as a mechanic most of his life for Arrowhead Marina and had a passion for restoring old cars and going to car shows. He looked forward to driving his 29 model Shay on nice days. Richard was a member of the Disney Assembly of God and enjoyed going to church and fellowshipping with church members. He enjoyed spending time with family and going to family reunions, and “remembering when.” Richard loved his two sons and two granddaughters and all those that were closest to him. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a faithful servant of God who leaves behind many memories for his family to remember.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m, Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Disney Assembly of God in Disney with Pastor Daryl Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Ghormley Cemetery with Colson Wheat, James Satterwhite, Jim LaRue, George Perritt, Doug Andrews, and Allen Seaman serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Dennis Ruggles, Glen Seaman, Daniel Shaw, Michael Wheat, Larry Satterwhite and Gerald Satterwhite and Jeremiah Richison. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Richard is survived by his wife, Vicki Satterwhite of the home; granddaughters, Rachael Satterwhite of the home and Michaila Shaw and husband Daniel of Casey, Illinois brothers, Gerald Satterwhite and wife Mary of Florida and Larry Satterwhite and wife Sharon of Langley, Oklahoma; sister, Gerry Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vernis Satterwhite; and sons, Rick Satterwhite, Jr., and Patrick Satterwhite.
